Duncan Camp Quality Volunteer

Duncan Camp Quality VolunteerDuncan Camp Quality Volunteer is a 23 year old Uni student who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma at just 5 years of age.

Duncan’s First Camp

He remembers being nervous when he arrived at his first camp at the age of 7 or 8.

He fondly remembers the special companions that took him under their wings and encouraged and supported him until he felt comfortable and confident.

David, his first ever companion took the time to come and visit him at his home to get to know hims and the family and they had a brilliant time.

The dedication, love and care given by David, Jake and other carers was integral in Duncan’s overall positive experience of the camps.

After being sick for so long, he said it was fun to just relax and do exciting things and meet new friends. Duncan kept coming to camps until he was 17 years old.

Fond Memories and the Satisfaction of Giving Back

After a break, he started missing the camps and decide it was time to volunteer and to help and give back to other kids some of the care and support he had received.

Duncan was an action man on the day, swinging from trees and encouraging and supporting the kids. It was wonderful to meet him and see the brilliant work he and the other volunteers are doing.

 Talk soon,

Margherita :)
