Teen Photography: The Best Ways to Make Sure Teenagers Love Their Photos

Sept79Teen photography can be a tricky thing that many parents aren’t sure how to work with. It can be great fun, however, and I’ve had many happy clients who loved their photos, and the teens loved them as well. When you give teens more room to have fun and be themselves during a family photography session, you are going to have a better chance of getting stunning portraits of everyone. I am going to look at some of the most amazing ways that you can get your teenagers excited for family photos. Let’s take a look!

3 Excellent Ways to Get Your Teenagers Excited about Family Photographs

There are several ways you can amp up excitement about teen photography with your reluctant teens, but I am going to focus on three ways I’ve found to be immensely successful. Try these with your teenagers to see just how easy your next family portrait session will be.

  1. Let Your Teens Wake Up Later in the Day

Many times, my clients want to get up earlier in the day to get their family photographs done. While this is great, many times, teenagers will fight tooth and nail because they’d rather sleep in. When doing teen photography, I always encourage my clients to do their sessions later in the day, giving their teenagers time to sleep in and wake up later. This will help them not be quite as grumpy, making the photo session go amazingly well.

  1. Encourage Them to Wear What They Want To

Another thing teens tend to dread about family photographs is wearing something they don’t like. When you get teen photography done for your family portraits, consider encouraging your teen to wear whatever he or she would like to. This will help make your teen more comfortable, and can add even more relaxation to a family photograph session. Everyone can be comfortable, in their favourite clothes, and you will simply love how the photographs turn out.

  1. Go to Fun, Exciting Urban Locations for Great, Edgy Teen Photography

Depending on your teen, he or she might prefer going to more urban, edgy places for their photographs. While the beach and other locations are gorgeous for family photos, urban locations can really help encourage teens to relax and take great photos. However, if your teenager loves the outdoors, choosing a great park or somewhere he or she loves will be a better idea. Just go with what you know your teen enjoys, and you will be able to get some stunning shots that you will be immensely proud of.
